Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the historical basis of Maria Matios’ novel «Sweet Darusia», the analysis of the panorama of the tragedy of the Ukrainian people depicted in it. Attention is focused on how the author herself explains the historical dimensions of the analyzed work, the reasons for addressing certain issues of the novel. Interesting is the interpretation of the author's artistic goal in the novel - the depiction of historical events through the fate of one person. The novel is analyzed through the prism of the achievements of critics and literary critics.Статтю присвячено дослідженню історичного підґрунтя роману Марії Матіос «Солодка Даруся» та аналізу зображеної в ньому панорами трагедії українського народу. Особливу увагу зосереджено на тому, як сама авторка пояснює історичний вимір аналізованого твору та причини звернення до порушених у ньому проблем. Цікавим є тлумачення авторського художнього задуму - відтворення історичних подій крізь призму долі однієї людини. Аналіз роману здійснено з урахуванням здобутків літературної критики та літературознавства.
