Abstract

This article examines the typological peculiarities of sentences in Modern English, focusing on their structural characteristics and communicative functions. The research provides a comprehensive analysis of the sentence as the fundamental unit of syntax, investigating both structural classifications (simple, composite, and quasisentences) and communicative types (declarative, interrogative, imperative, and exclamatory). Special attention is given to the predicative nature of sentences and their role in effective communication. The study contributes to the evolving understanding of sentence structure in linguistic theory and highlights the significance of diverse sentence types in contemporary English usage.
