The role of word stress in the English language

Abstract

This article analyzed approaches to the definition of the concept of "word stress", determined the degrees and types of word stress in general and in the English language in articular, considered the functions of word stress, highlighted the features of stressed syllables, characterized word stress from the point of view of placement, described the role and significance of word stress in the English language.
